We devoted our entire newscast two it right after the news broke (2 hrs). Then pre-empted programming to broadcast every update live. Then, at noon, we devoted our entire coverage to the 2nd incident once it broke. I know this because I was on the air for all of it.

Not sure I would make a leap to racism, but the city goes far out of its way to inconvenience locals as much as possible during SXSW. Anything that might scare the outside money from flowing in is always going to be downplayed hard.
