Also - the first amendment relates only to speech between you and the government,which the government may not infringe. It has nothing at all to do with speech between individuals.
PARENTS. If a school administrator tells you that your children experiencing hate speech is protecting by the 1st Amendment, they are wrong. Hate speech is not protected speech in a K-12 setting. Period.

Can you back this up with law/cases? In grad school they are teaching student affairs practitioners the opposite for higher ed and I want to know if it could apply across the board in education

I used to work on a school that had random drug dog searches, a blatant violation of the 4th amendment, but they think they should extend 1st amendment protections to speech not even protected for adults!? The adults in charge of this need to examine their own attitudes.
