Man, I really respect what you do, but this is a bad look. Jewish people have the right to say what we feel is and isn't antisemitic. I don't think what you or Tamika are doing is unforgivable by any means, but I think perhaps you need to listen to some more Jewish voices here.

Of course you do. You can also be terribly misinformed. The cultural gap here is embarrassing. It’s a common phrase for us and it is not anti-Semitic. It just isn’t.
-
But you're ignoring context. Her tweet was a subtweet in response to Jewish voices criticizing her support of Farrakhan while he made (yet again) antisemitic remarks. The tweet by itself in a vacuum... I can understand your point. But that isn't the case here.
-
No. It wasn’t. You took it that way. That’s simply not what it was. I’m sorry. I agree that you have interpreted it that way. On the matter of that tweet, respectfully, you are wrong

Sorry man, disagree. Her support of Farrakhan, and the ‘certain group of people’, that’s a dog whistle, if not full out call.
-
Here’s what I think has happened. You see her support of Farrakhan and have concluded she’s anti-Semitic. That then colored how you see everything she says. That phrase is common for us. It’s been said for generations. You’ve misunderstood it.
-
Everything in context, statements don’t exist in a vacuum. If she denounced the guy, and then made that statement, there’d be no issue.
-
Let me help with context. When I feel like I’m being attacked, as a Christian I think of Jesus being attacked. And I sometimes think of my enemies as his enemies. Also, to be clear, his enemies were not exclusively Jewish.
-
During the speech in Chicago, Farrakhan made several anti-Semitic comments, including, "the powerful Jews are my enemy" So stop enemy is clearly in reference to that and stop trying to make this a black thing https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/28/politics/louis-farrakhan-speech/index.html …

Of course I’m not the arbiter. But I’m also mature enough to understand when good people have misunderstood a phrase that is common for us but not for you. Black people, for hundreds of years, have spoken of our enemies and Jesus’s enemies. Nothing to do with hate speech.
-
And for 2000 years, literally, the ‘enemies of Jesus’ has meant ‘the Jews’. And inspired relentless hatred, murder of Jews. Dont dismiss it.

Shaun, we don’t think Tamika is anti-semitic. We’re just asking that she has the decency to denounce Louis Farrakhan who has said some of the most vile things about Jews. Why is this so hard to grasp?pic.twitter.com/Ltz0SmtSKy

I’ve got 7 years of Hebrew school, been bar mitzvah’d, taught in my temple briefly, etc. I read her statement 10 times last night and for the life of me I don’t see anything anti-Semitic here. This is being driven for the purpose of division. Nothing else.

All she has to do is say she strongly opposes antisemitism and does not agree with Farrakhan's words. That's all she has to do. That's all we're asking. WHY is that a big ask?
-
Instead of honing in on the enemies of Jesus thing, can we discuss the fact that this is even coming up because of her association with someone deeply antisemitic and her refusal to denounce his antisemitic statements? This should NOT be polarizing.
-
Maybe she does not want to denounce someone with a gun held to a her head.
-
Nobody's holding a gun to anyone's head. We're asking her if she agrees with someone who she is publicly supporting. It's a pretty reasonable question.
