Shaun, you know I am a fan of your work against Trump and for justice--& join it. But that tweet is a straw man. Farrakhan is frankly, nakedly and openly anti-semitic. How can any leader who embraces & promotes him, no matter their other good qualities, not be held accountable?https://twitter.com/ShaunKing/status/969656487625805824 …

Sure, nobody's perfect. but Farrakhan's whole message is classic anti-semitism -- the Jews control the world -- plus his own very sexist nuttiness: Jews have made pot that makes black men effeminate, jew created trans. etc. What's there for a progressive to like?
-
Didn't he also say that black women need to cook for black men instead of marching?
-
dunno about that one. He's said a lot of things, it's hard to keep track.
-
Farrakhan has also praised Trump! You'd think anti-Trump march organizers might be given pause over that.https://newrepublic.com/article/133385/farrakhans-grand-illusion …

If I can judge someone who attends. Trump or KKK rally as a person that supports bigotry I will also judge Tamika as a person who supports the hate and divisive speech of Farrakhan. Hate is hate and must not be supported full stop. Tamika doesn’t get a pass.

She didn’t just attend the event. She posted selfies with him, called him the greatest of all time and when called on it tweeted about the enemies of Jesus being against her. We are telling you our lived experience of antisemitism. Please listen.

Nah, it's not ala carte, you can't say yes to the self actualization and turn a deaf ear to the anti Semitism As people of color we rightly wouldn't (and don't) except BS rationalizations like that from others, and we have to walk the walk too Company you keep

I too am a fan of yours, but must disagree. Why would a civil rights leader align themselves with someone who holds such, sexist, Trans and homophobic views not to mention anti-Semitic? 1/2
-
If she doesn't hold anti-Semitic views why did she tweet about having the same enemies of Jesus? I mean who else could she have been talking about...the Romans?!?

As pertains to #3, we take GOP leaders to task for speaking at conferences of groups that espouse hate for minorities and LGBTQ people all the time. And we should. Farrakhan is a hate-monger. Attending his speech gives him credibility. It's wrong.

Notice how the people who sliced and diced Hillary Clinton's every word to make her look bad, never take responsibility for their mistakes. It's almost like they were projecting all along.

Your number 3 is basically the same excuse Trump gave for "good people on both sides"

She knew he was a speaker and his homophobia and anti-semitism were well known. She attended, clapped, took pictures. She didn’t issue a statement denouncing the comments after and people were rightly horrified. It hurt people and refusing to acknowledge that helps no one.
