4. It is both absolutely gross and racist that lawyers for the @NCAA called on Vanskike v. Peters, where prisoners weren't paid for their work because of the 13th Amendment, to justify their arguments that NCAA athletes should not be paid either.
I've been saying it for the last 10 years: A bunch of old white men getting rich off the labor of young black men. Reminds me of something else in our nations history. Something else....hmmm.
the existence of the 13th exception is gross and racist. we need to #amendthe13th. Seems like you're not uplifting the rights of prisoners here but just focusing on the audacity of comparing athletes to them

Could you elaborate how a case about not paying prisoners was racist? Were they arguing that only minority prisoners shouldn’t be paid? I also thought college sports was like an internship on crack. You get a free education plus introduced to all the movers and shakers.

I agree with a lot of this but how is it racist when it effects white prisoners the same as it does prisoners of other races? You don’t have to shoehorn racism claims into everything it just hurts your points in some cases.
To be “fair” not all NCAA athletes are black... I get what you mean. And I agree. But “racist” is a word you shouldn’t just throw around lightly. That’s a serious allegation.

If the @NCAA wants to treat athletes as slaves, if I were any of those students I'd seriously reconsider playing... (altho, of course, that said, for many it's their lifelong dream & they see it as a path to their future careers. Maybe they *are* enslaved!)
