sad sad sad. Many of these revenue creating athletes come from poverty and have absolutely no pocket money. Not allowing them to get jobs and not giving them pocket money puts them in a losing situation. Everyone needs money.
Students who take tickets to the games get paid. Students who work concessions at the games get paid. Students who serve as ushers at the games get paid. 99% don't go Professional. They should be compensated for exactly this reason. They're used & deserve more than a full scholarship. It would get rid of the shady recruiting practices but would also hurt smaller, less funded schools. Need to base it by college I'd assume.

i witnessed in college, athletes having to take from agents illegally or from donors because they did not have $1. Then they lost their scholarship and an education

As a graduate assistant at a sec school I was paid for my monthly teaching hours... why cant athletes be paid and I wasn't bringing in millions for the school. Pay college athletes

If their work brings in revenue for the school, yes. Also that's not the point. Whatever your position on this, specifically citing the wording of the amendment that outlawed slavery as justification for not paying your employees is pretty disgusting.
