I think whiteness, much like masculinity, must be incredibly fragile! In truth, we stole much of our greatness from the people that we subjugated on our rise to power. Can you imagine the greatness of this nation if we were truly the safe harbor for all that we pretend to be?

I would say that it is the idea of control or "colonization" that is the fragile idea. That idea does not have to be contained within the identities of white or masculine, we can redefine those identities without that lust for control over others.
-
I don't know. You never see "Colonizationists" or ever hear them chanting about colonies. The very idea of those identities seems to imply control. That is why they see any transfer or share of control as an affront to their whiteness or masculinity.

Because a THINKING man or woman can not and will not be controlled by any system regardless of how entrenched in a society that system is.

Historically, white people have had to DELUDE themselves into believing that Blacks are inferior. BECAUSE, if they didn’t “believe” that (in centuries past) they could not reconcile their own behavior (slavery, discrimination, etc.) with their faith (or sleep at night).

...afraid of...two hundred years ago or afraid of today? If its the latter, the answer is pretty simple. White people in the USA fear everything that is perceived as a threat to their cozy cocoon. It matters not that which they fear might enhance the cultural experience.

I think to understand this better we need to look at the concept and rationale behind brain washing. Brainwashing is used to strip a person of their true identity.
