Can’t ride with you on this one @ShaunKing! How do you get tongue tied & say the word chink? It was on his mind the entire time & it came out in my opinion. He just needs to own it, apologize to all Asians, & accept the consequences. We of all people should know how they feel.

Objectively speaking, JJ said exactly what he said, a racial slur. You can argue the intent. But the racial slur is the matter of fact.

That the word is in his lexicon ready to be used is a problem. Racism against Asians exist. Don’t excuse your friend. Be an ally.

Why didn't they re-shoot it? Either way, he said what he said, wether he got tongue tied or not.

I think JJ meant to say just what he said!

If you're vouching for JJ, then I believe you. However this is a very touchy subject. There is a history of racism against Asian people being allowed to slide because we're often seen as "model minorities" who are passive and don't want to rock the boat, so I get the sensitivity.

There’s zero chance he uses that word purposely when directing the video to Chinese fans. It’s make no sense. He got tongue tied and nothing more.

I don't know
@JJRedick but I believe you (and him). That being said, it'd be nice if someone as well-informed and thoughtful as you acknowledged that you *would* speak up against racism towards (and within) Asian communities in other highly publicized circumstances. -
We're largely invisible in conversations about race in the US. So while defending your friend is admirable, to me, your strong/lengthy responses implicitly reinforce a message that we should stay quiet/that we don't matter. I think that's unintentional but I wanted to voice that.

You can’t have it both ways - just because he’s a friend the man clearly said what he said.
