Being a vegan on the road is incredibly hard. It's one thing when I'm in NYC, but I'm in Montana, then West Virginia.

Not easy! But lots of Chipotles on the road now helps. Can do Subway in a pinch too.

In ‘85 in S.Dakota I asked for a salad& was told it wasn’t on the menu.Noting another diner w/ a burger,I channeled JackNicholson in 5 Easy Pieces,asked for the lettuce,tomato & onion from a burger,oil,vinegar,salt &pepper.The staff watched amazed as I conjured Dakota’s 1st salad

Yes, tricky states to travel in as a vegan. Hugely recommend Happy Cow app for suggestions of nearby options. Chipotle is vegan-friendly. I tend to pack bars, oatmeal packs, etc. Plus learn where nearest grocery stores are for microwavable eats from Amy's, Sweet Earth, etc.
