She still gets most of her money from big donors and lobbyists. Don't be fooled. She still says HRC is her "hero in politics." Therefore, we should expect Gillibrand to be just as full of shit as HRC always was. IF she also stops accepting lobbyists (etc) money, then talk to me.

It is. I can't judge the professed policy positions of a campaigning politician until I know the source of their funding. They can tell me they're liberal / progressive(Obama '08), but until they put their money where their mouth is, they can't be trusted to follow through.

Yes but they can afford not to. They have huge followings and face recognition. What about the decent representatives who could never get elected without this support? There are lots of them.

I think over 90% in a poll agreed that politicians serve their donors is a huge issue left and right.

I don't always agree with Maria Cantrell's decisions, but I respect her a lot, along with Patty Murray. There are some good people representing us here in Washington, but we're lucky and I know that.

I think it has to be the number 1 issue. No matter what other issues one might care about more, in this electoral system the donors are the constituency. If a candidate runs a progressive campaign, but is backed by big donors who want the opposite, those promises never be kept

They’re always going to accept corporate donations. Why not just push for public disclosure in all venues or events?
