It looks like arrest rates for black and brown people under 21 went up. That’s bad but not the same as arrests for the total black and brown population going up.

Sources 1, 2 and 4 are all referring to national arrest levels, not levels in states that legalized specifically. 3 is about arrests for the sale of pot in DC which remains illegal there. 6 says it tripled from previous year in DC but doesn’t say it’s higher than before 2014 law

Got paywalled on 5. Again, I think we all agree these numbers are bad, but they don’t suggest marijuana arrests go up for total PoC population in places where it’s legal.
-
They have, undoubtedly gone up for Black & Brown children/teens in Colorado. They have gone up for several years straight in DC. After New York decriminalized it, arrests went up nearly 10% 2 years ago, then down 1% last year.

This article refers to arrest rates — not the total number of people arrested. Do you have data showing that this tweet of your is correct, that "Arrests of Black & Brown people rose in Colorado"? I haven't seen any data supporting that claim.

Yes. 1. That refers to rates not total arrests. 2. I don’t see the figures. 3. That applies to teens, who aren’t covered by the law. Can you provide hard numbers that show, as you claimed, "marijuana related arrests of African Americans & Latinos have actually INCREASED”?

Mr. King, you are playing with numbers. The Colorado article is talking about juvenile marijuana arrests of black and brown (Marijuana illegal for under 21). Can't be arrested 21 and over. That's a big distinction that you are leaving out.

I was the guest on this NPR program so I will butt in to say that growing racial disparities can co-exist with falling absolute arrest rates for all races. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/03/21/pot-legalization-hasnt-done-anything-to-shrink-the-racial-gap-in-drug-arrests/?utm_term=.f344e8b0339c …
