1. So, get this... Recreational marijuana use is now "legal" in 9 states + DC. Another 14 states have "decriminalized" recreational marijuana use. 29 states have now legalized varying forms of medical marijuana. That seems like a lot more progress than it truly is....
Okay, but how many of those states have enacted retroactive policies to free people incarcerated for low level marijuana crimes? That’ll be a true marker of progress.
The biggest problem right now is not the slow pace of state reform. The biggest problem right now is that all marijuana production, distribution and use is 100% illegal under Federal law.
This will mean nothing if it was followed by freeing everyone went to jail because if this, plus cleaning their criminals records
