If they can’t put forth a bill that can get enough bipartisan support to win Dem votes,then yes it is on the GOP. If the other side had to go along with everything just to pass legislation,we would only have a one party system.This is on the GOP. They knew they needed Dem votes.

The military, like other "essential services" doesn't get shut down with the government. Furthermore, as a vet I know that people in uniform take care of their own, so no service members will suffer.

As a federal employee on furlough right now, I can tell you I'm not excited. My brother-in-law who is still active duty is not getting paid. But please tell me how me and mine are just fine..

Actually, not true. There was a shutdown in 1977 during Jimmy Carter's presidency. The dems controlled the house & the senate. So.....there is that time when the controlling party shut down the gov. Never say never!!!

I’m amazed that 1 party (Republicans) controls all branches of govt. couldn’t prevent govt. shutdown. Not only r the Repubs complicit, but also incompetent to govern.
