4 days into being a vegan.

Wait a few more months - vege and vegan foods take on incredible flavor!

Mmmm. Vegan bacon. Can't easily get it in Japan, but love it when I visit back home.
-
how difficult is being vegan in japan? im vegan in the states and i plan on moving there this year but their foods are very fish laden and i imagine specialty substitutes are hard to find.
-
It can be tough. Many things to get used to: 1. Cooking (you're best bet) 2. Food terms & kanji, esp food labels (google translate can be a help, but imperfect) 3. Disappointment a. You'll make mistakes b. People won't really understand c. Accidentally vegan food vanishes quick
-
But it's also far from impossible: 1. There are vegans in Japan 2. Also restaurants 3. CostCo 4. Rakuten (JP's Amazon) can get you a lot of vegan things incl fake meats & cheeses 5. Gyoum Super (like a mini CostCo located in many cities and very cheap) 6. J-sweets are often vegan
