“Investigators were continuing to search for that gun.” The story is so nonsensical. She supposedly had a gun earlier in the day so that justifies shooting her later in the day, despite her not actually having a gun on her at the time she was killed!?!?
Can you imagine that story as justification in any other circumstance? In fact, I remember that *not* being a defense of self-defense in law school. The cop was not in clear and present danger.
The general rule for everyone else is not the rule for cops. They have what some CDA call the Reasonably Scared Cop Rule. And since cops are trained to be in constant fear for their lives, they’re almost always found to be reasonably scared.

Yes, this was wrong. This officer should have been aware of their back stop. Bullets go through people, they go through houses. You're responsible for every bullet. That I'm not disagreeing with.
