I think that’s almost certainly the equilibrium we’re headed towards. It’s, in some ways, the only one that makes sense at this point. (From a power politics perspective)

Agreed, Dems keep thinking that if they take the high road the other side naturally will too. I think the base is beginning to realize that that is no longer the case. Dynamics may be changing.
