Yep. Let me be clear, @GDouglasJones. My family was committed to your candidacy. I expect your Sr. staff, staff, interns -- EVERYONE -- to reflect the diversity of the electorate that put you in office.

Come on Shaun, he promised racial inclusion in his Alabama and DC office. Let's see what happens.
-
Yes and he has to answer the question diplomatically. Lets see what happens.

He said his appointments would reflect the diversity of Alabama, which BTW is 76% white, 26% black. So we'll see how well he tracks its diversity.
-
Exactly. He needs to make sure it’s representative of those who put him in office instead. I’m watching and know that there are many qualified Black women who are able to fill these posts, @GDouglasJones.
-
No, he needs to represent the entire state of Alabama, including and especially those who voted against him, who are the most in need of education, for instance.
-
That’s not how it works. He was a long shot candidate who won because of a particular coalition of voters. He needs to pay it forward by putting them into leadership positions.
-
That's how old-fashioned party politics worked. The GOP has crashed and burned with that model. Need to do what works best for the future.
-
We’re not talking about unqualified hacks. We’re talking about qualified and skilled candidates. Otherwise, don’t come knocking around election time if you won’t invest in the communities that help you win.
-
The best candidates should be appointed, both in terms of their qualifications and what is best for the future of Alabama, not neglecting progress and diversity.

Also address the fact that he has said we need to focus on “Real issues” instead of the sexual harassment allegations against Trump. Demonstrates what he thinks about the women who voted for him.

Today Jones said he didn't believe the president should resign and that "we need to move on and not get distracted by those issues." I beg to differ. The women who endured his abuse must be given a voice and justice not dismissed by the likes of you. @GDouglasJonespic.twitter.com/HMAyDNxgHy

It was a non-committal answer and he said as much. Let’s not eat our own before he even hires anyone for any of the open positions. We trusted his judgement to be the senator so we can at least give him the benefit of the doubt on his staffing.

That the problem, an expectation that Jones senior staff will have black people. Jones played the political pimp game the Dems always do. Well the Republicans are worse so vote for us and they deliver nothing. Also a black face in a high position in and of itself means nothing.

Make no mistake, the people who grabbed this election and flipped it did it to get Roy Moore out of the boat, not to make Doug Jones captain. His staff choices should be a litmus test for the future of the Dem Establishment.
-
“His staff choices should be a litmus test for the future of the Dem Establishment.” 1 senator’s hires is NOT a litmus test for the entire D party. It was a good question & he answered. I think he’ll do what he said. If he doesn’t that only tells us about HIS character, not Ds.
-
Doug Jones is a conservative Democrat from Alabama. Anyone who expects him to be a typical D is delusional. He was simply a better choice than his opponent. He is not the litmus test for anything. Still, I’m glad Shaun & Jake posed the question, & I’m ready to see who is hired.
