Wait, wait... I’m confused. You were one of his most staunch and outspoken supporters in 2016, weren’t you? To the point that you were regularly describing HRC like some sort of irredeemable ghoul?

Right? I’ve been watching shaun over the last couple weeks though and sounds like he’s finally realizing that many of his fellow Bernie supporters outrage and purity is steeped in privilege.

Was it ACA that was the move to the right for you?? Compromises are neccesary to govern - permanent change happens slowly, not by jamming through an agenda and ignoring everyone else.

And in a democracy, compromise is exactly what you do. Is it frustrating? Yes. Is it slow? Damn yes. But working within the system to create change is how you create change unless you’re looking for violence in the streets. Sanders would be operation within that same system

Dismantling the system is a priviliged idea that serves nothing but liberal egos. It will not serve POC or the working class or women or anyone else The Great Saviour Sanders says it will.

This is a genuine question from a citizen across the pond trying to understand. Is there a lack of qualified people from the poc demographic due to school segregation, unjust economic policy, unjustified arrests (so poc get criminal records) etc? Or just poor hiring policy?
-
The biggest barrier is that almost all senators require "Hill experience" before they'll hire you. The experience is mostly acquired via unpaid internships. Poor people can't afford to work for free. POC are disproportionately poor. So there are few POC with Hill experience.
-
And that doesn't even take into account the personal and professional networking required to even learn about these jobs when they open up. An overwhelmingly white pool has had access to these jobs historically, so the network of people connected to that pool is also white.
-
And therefore the young candidates that get the job referrals, the personal and professional recommendations, the introductions, and the interviews are overwhelmingly white. And there's no serious effort to break the cycle and include more POC.

I am a teacher in Ireland, our educational system has many flaws, the wealthy can access somewhat better schools but every child has the opportunity to get a decent education. I think access to education levels the playing field!

Here's
@BernieSanders chained to a WoC, being dragged away by police for protesting segregation. Try and tell me he's on the wrong side of this..pic.twitter.com/3MJPXAj9Xu
