Um. So a quota? Despite qualifications and automatic 2 black? How many Asians? American Indian? Maybe one? Just no white guys? Sorry, Shaun I usually agree with you, but this is actually stepping backward to insist a quota for appearance sake.

Why do ppl who rail against quotas always assume only white men can be qualified? Do you think Black and qualified are mutually exclusive?
-
Was not written or implied by me or Shaun. Why would you want a job that was filled by quota based on skin color? Any qualified person despite their ethnicity should be considered based on qualifications.
-
What other problem could you have with hiring Black ppl? If you do believe there are at least 2 sufficiently qualified ppl in Alabama, what do you have against hiring them?
-
My problem is with saying 2, why 2? I bet there are 4. THAT IS MY POINT. Our people have not advanced with quotas.
-
I don't know about racial quotas, but studies have shown that quotas for women work out great for everyone, rooting out mediocre men and boosting performance. Diversity is good
-
It's good because you have a much bigger pool of candidates, which obviously ups the number of smart, driven and hard-working people in any configuration of professionals

Should be the most qualified people as well as represent the population distribution of the State.

Very mature. Are there no Latinos, Indians, Arabic people or Asians in Alabama? They could be equally qualified and should be considered too. My point is that all people of all races should be considered, based on qualifications. This country isn't only made up of two races.

This is getting so old to point out. All the ppl saying "most qualified/representative blah blah" are us white ppl. Shut the fuck up! He is right. Comments like that are examples our privilege. Please do better!
-
And another thing. Why are you assuming the most qualified aren't black women????
-
I would think all would want most qualified. I would also think there are TONS of qualified black women to chose from .
-
True. Ppl saying "but merit and qualifications" never said that when everybody up there was white. Why do they want to change over to merit & qualifications *now? Historically that's not what we've done, it's been white men regardless of merit, so why call for merit only now...?
