NYC thought: One of the greatest skills a New Yorker has developed is knowing when to board a train other than your preferred train because the one that just showed up can get you where you are going faster than Google Maps says your preferred train can I have not mastered this

I have! Also you can use the Train Time app which is very accurate and you’ll calculate exactly how much time it’ll take you to get wherever with transfers! It’s changed my life.

Am I missing something, or don't trains generally go the same direction? Does this mean different lines to the same destination?

Also, different trains on the same route have different stops. Some are express routes through Manhattan and have limited stops

Calgary's system is decent, I only have to do this for about 10% of my trips, and only if they involve transfers

Very true. Pro tip: be on the look out to see how long the train lasts at stops, makes a big difference. Ex. 1 train makes more stops in Manhattan than A train, but 1 train gets in and out of stops quicker, making it more efficient.

At least you’re going in the right direction. My saving grace was that the train was near the end of the line so it started doubling back almost right away. I’m just glad nobody paid attention/noticed Why am I tweeting this oh no
