I'm not comfortable w/ the phrase "criminal justice" that has basically become the go-to phrase for an entire space working on issues related to police, prisons, prosecutors, & so much more. I don't think the word "criminal" is the optimum word there that we should be using.

Really good point. Just like we don't say "ex-felons / cons" anymore in favor of the more humanizing "formerly incarcerated people." Maybe just "justice reform" works.
