I'm not sure he could. It's possible, but I think you'd still be hard-pressed to beat Trump in a primary. I think it'd be easy to beat him in the general, though.

No, I don't think anyone can beat Trump in the GOP primary at present (70%+ fav). You would need someone equally well known, rich, white supremacist but not have Trump's other problems.

I don't think favorability ratings within the party indicate he'd win - surely there are Republicans with ratings above 70% among their own voters?

Not that I know of. Ryan and others have bad ratings.
