The primary is often the moment to be ideologically pure. (And we need to focus much more progressive energy around primaries.) The general election is usually a time to be strategic, accommodate, vote in ways that prevent bad outcomes.
It's far too easy for many privileged white progressives to set an entire election ablaze after their preferred candidate loses. They often aren't the ones who will suffer the most from the consequences of such actions. It's not principled. I don't think it was mostly progressives that switched to Norwood in mass, but Woolard supporters. I think there is a difference, Woolard appealed to white liberal democrats.

As a white privileged progressive, I'm glad I voted for Hillary. There was no other viable moral option in that election. If you are truly progressive, there was no other option.
