What I am about to say is not a "I have daughters" comment. But having 2 teenage daughters and being married to wife that I speak with all day every day, prepped me for what we're seeing now with awful men being outed everywhere. I'm not sure I'd know otherwise. //Thread

In casual conversation about men jacking off uninvited in front of women, I said "yep, happened twice to me" - before him, of course. His reaction was astounding because 30 years married and this was such a part of being a woman that it never got mentioned? Sunk in in a heartbeat

One learns to ignore it and say i don't want to have to fight anyone. So u grin and bear it and pray you don't get touched or trapped alone with one of them. And when it does happen u are so busy trying to figure out where you went wrong that u just pray to forget all about it.

That was always my thought. As long as he doesn't touch me it's no big deal. I just thought it was part of being a woman. When I was touched I was just thankful that was it, and would devise ways not to be alone with the perpetrator.

The constant harassment changes you. I became "that girl" in the office as a way to get ahead. You know the one who hangs out with the guys, the one who is never offened no matter how lewd the comment is. The who could take it and give it right back, with a wink and a smile.

This is true. You walk away, when you're lucky, feeling terrified and knowing it doesn't matter. Every person should find this wrong.

Last week I told my husband about the harassment I faced early in our marriage. He was upset that I didn't tell hikm when it happened. It was just part of working to me, it was my reality since I entered the workforce at 15. I didn't think to tell him at the time.
