What I am about to say is not a "I have daughters" comment. But having 2 teenage daughters and being married to wife that I speak with all day every day, prepped me for what we're seeing now with awful men being outed everywhere. I'm not sure I'd know otherwise. //Thread

Yes, to the point where (speaking for myself) sometimes I've only realized as a delayed reaction that harassment happened.

Pretty much. Was taught "just ignore it"

Jup. You leave the room, go out, puke into the gutter, dust off, buck up & go back in the next day. And so on & so forth.

And sadly, the times that are so overt your mind cannot even excuse them, we have been taught it is better to stay silent because we do not know if they are stable. Sticking up for yourself could go anywhere from being ignored to being right out killed & anywhere in between.

Yes-we internalised male behavior as "just the way it is". Ironic that the perceived "weaker sex" has always believed that men are actually the weak ones for their puerile obsession with their dicks.

Yes to the point that you don’t even realize it’s abuse. You accept the responsibility by not saying anything- we’re conditioned for silence and acceptance.

Very true. I find myself unconsciously doing it constantly & looking back later wondering why my immediate reaction was to make excuses. “They were drunk & didn’t notice.” “The train jostled.” “It was crowded.” Full on touching that looking back could only have been purposeful.

Maybe they'd feel safer in an Islamic majority country where testimony from women only counts as half of a man's?
