Shaun, while you have a point, it's still a strange one to make. I detest these people myself, but hooking them up to Trump = removing their agency. BION, European nationalists would exist w/ or w/o Trump, started to gain speed way before Trump.

As someone else said, you got your timelines mixed up. These people are perhaps fueled by Trump to some extent, but Polish nationalism does not need to cling to his image (& doesn't). Movements like this across EU snowballed into Trump, not the other way around.

I get your point that there is a connection, but half of these people (some of whom grew out of the ultras subculture) have never even heard of Bannon. Their nationalism is not transnational; it is insular.

If anything, it's the other way round. Eastern Europe was a training ground for weaponizing the far right in mainstream politics.
