If you need to get rid of a pet (moving to new place, can't have) you can sign up with the Humane Society to help find/vet a new owner. Did this with a stray kitten I found, rehabbed.

She was great. She was an education student living with her mom. Her old cat had recently died. It gave me a lot of peace of mind that I helped pick who my baby kitteh ended up with.

He'll be forgotten in a week or so, when the next mass shootings push this one aside. No lessons will be learned. The "thoughts'& prayers" which never do anything will be trotted out again. Trump fans will claim the shooter is "Antifa", etc.
