We have 4 parties. Only room for 2 until we overturn CU, fix gerrymandering and move to proportional representation for at least the House

I'd like to see the Senate get bigger too, on ranked choice voting. Originally it was one senator per 150k people, now one per 3.3 million.
-
Agreed. I'm in California and Feinstein and Harris have little opportunity to do much work deeply attuned to the state's needs
-
Exactly. For some states, it would be more of the same, but for many, it would be a more accurate ideological representation.
-
I've not heard this discussed much but it strikes me as a good idea

We have 4 major parties! Dem Rep Green and Libertarian. Greens have an awesome platform and ballot access. They are the People's Party

Yep. One of them to be The Women's Party. Anyone can can be a member but only women can run. I'd love to see it.
-
I would join the Women's party. I honestly think men need a break from politics. Two to three terms should be a good starting point.
-
Agreed. If nothing else it would be interesting to see what women could really accomplish unfettered.

*Fast forward to Trump winning with 23% of the popular vote.* "HOORAY for good ideas!"

Unfortunately a two-party system is an emergent property of the Constitution. You need to rewrite it to make 3rd parties viable.

You mean like, Libertarian, Republican, Democrat and Green?

My idea: Let the Republican Party run itself into the ground and divide their votes, work on fixing the Democratic Party.

Been in favor for about a decade. Socialist, Democratic, Republican, Tea Party and/or Libertarian. Can only happen if the people make it.
-
Additionally, only 538EV really doesn't cut it anymore, in a country of 300+ million.

Let's cut to the chase. Demand Republicans go on record whether they support a constitutional rewrite or not. Everything else is secondary.
-
if the Dems don't get their shit together, we'll find out in 2018 when they have the states necessary for a const amendment
-
Even the most anti-Trump person is still letting American Exceptionalism lull them into missing the MOST EXISTENTIAL issue facing us today.
-
100%. Developing strategies to win winnable states just to prevent the GOP from unilateral amending ability should be priority #1, its crazy
