it wasn't taboo, many of you chose not too. It's moot now, he's out of office and it's time to focus on what can be done now.

Policies dont leave with the president that enacted them..
-
hence, "time to focus on what we can do now". Comparisons without solution are a waste of time.
-
Sweeping everything under the rug as per norm has gotten us here....don't ya think?
-
if that's what you took my statement, it wasn't meant for you.

Not true Obama was criticized by the Left for the deportations, the Right used it as an excuse for their policies.

He was heavily criticized in the immigration lawyer community. But to be fair to Obama and Trump, the Executive office has not been kind.
-
Immigration policies are built as reactionary mechanisms to avoid an influx of minorities that are coming in to the US.
-
They did it in the 1800's, 1900's and they are doing it now. It's nothing new. We just notice now because Trump has blatantly expressed it.

This is my biggest problem with rank party members - they turn a blind eye to the wrongdoings of their party leaders and reps. Both sides do

It's a fact that the problem of how to deal with people seeking a better life in America has been avoided by pols for decades. Both parties.
-
I'm not sure if it's avoided as much as dealt with poorly (e.g. politicians not really championing open borders)
-
Agree. But I'm 54 and I worked along side "illegals" when I was 16. So certainly long standing issue. Like pot, racism, and voting rights.
-
Absolutely. I just both parties prefer our system of exploitation and that's why our progress is minimal
