To be clear - I agree with the broad conclusion of your piece. But to say that Betsy DeVos is emblematic of it is quite easily contradicted
Strongly disagree. Ben Carson knew damn well he couldn't get anywhere in life without having the highest degrees & success in his field.

Dr. Carson's degrees aren't really relevant to this position though. If he was HHS, then yes I'd say his position isn't pure tokenism
