OR native here: Vote by Mail is fantastic. Easy, fast and doesn't even need a stamp. Literally NO reason to not vote.

Agreed - and it increases turnout for people who have non-traditional work hours. Also, you can get alerts for when your ballot arrives!

Great piece, we need to push the Oregon idea. When people don't vote apathy sets in and corrupt people take control

As an Oregonian I have to say I
our system. Auto-registration and the ballot comes to me! -

Washington votes by mail as well and had 78.76% turnout in the 2016 general. We also need viable 3rd parties and alt. voting methodologies

After living in South all my life, I was amazed we could vote by mail in WA. I had no idea. We have to tell people this is possible!

OR also mails you a pamphlet with candidate statements for all races and explains any ballot initiatives so voters can make informed choices

Why not just have an "I vote" app. Not like we actually know who voted in Oregon because it's a piece of paper in the mail.
-
Not everyone has an app-capable device. Everyone has USPS service. In OR ballot envelope has voter name and they sign. Do know who voted.
-
And election workers verify each signature. It's probably more secure than in person voting in many states.
-
Indeed, if someone actually cares about voter integrity (rather than suppression) it’s a no brainer to support Vote-by-Mail
