As a dual citizen French and American, I cannot tell you how relieved I am! The numbers of Macron are exceptional for a center party!

I guess the world should thank
#America for its self-immolation, which awakened the world to the threat of hate, racism, bigotry & misogyny.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Thats something your really cant conclude mr. King. All EU elections have seen major shifts to the right or centre.
-
Please be aware this is the highest result for far right in France (like ever) en 43% voted for Macron just to oppose that.

I sincerely hope this translates to the US making changes. But I'm not confident that will happen soon. It took almost 50yrs for

recover from a fascist regime. The wall only came down in '89,right? How long will it take us to recover? The red states are so brainwashed!

Isn't Macron a "Neo-liberal"? You must be upset.

If we have to live through the nightmare that is 45, at least it's an object lesson to other countries so they won't make the same mistake.

I think LePen thought #45 was popular here and thought her country was too stupid to see the shit storm in America. She knows now.

I would not say "major" Shaun. Lowest turnout since 1969, doubled the score her father did in 2002. Still a victory though!
-
It's major in the sense that lower turnouts turns to favor far right candidates. The fact that he won under such circumstances is remarkable
-
Given how the FR political system works (not being close to 50/50 like the US), it really isn't. Although there were a lot of unknowns
-
And to be clear: Le Pen (daughter) gained a lot of voters over Le Pen (father), so for the far right it's progress
-
Yes she did. I agree that the far right is growing. However, there's also a growing resistance given the results in Netherlands & now France
-
There was a lot more resistance in 2002 unfortunately. Read about how Melanchon handled his 19.6% of round 1
-
Thanks. I'll check that out
