Gets it's own electoral vote separate from the state. That's says a lot.

You can generally expect a liberal bend there, but without some sizable gentling for Christian conservatives you're giving up the seat.

In short, conservatism often loses there but is always a shadow political force, and has been gaining ground in 21st cent. Sorry for typos
