In all seriousness, the NYPD, and every police department in the nation, needs to get drastically smaller. Budgets should be cut. Sweeping layoffs should happen. My roommate's an uncorrupt NYPD lieutenant. He stated, 'the "job's" never abt discriminatorily intimidating & arresting ppl. New recruits were never fully evaluated or investigated regarding associations w hate groups. If they think that's "the job", they shouldn't be cops." -
- Another problem he & his colleagues mentioned when they came over was that having them wear body cams can expose them but doesn't actually stop them from breaking ethics codes & procedures. then there's the NYPD code of conduct "I may not agree w the law, but must enforce it".
Which conflicts w the public, but it depends on what officers respond to a certain call, or depends on the superior officer. The problem lies in the recruitment application process. They never fully validate if the rookie's affiliated w discriminatory/racist hate groups.
This creates an atmosphere of animosity w the general public, & skeptical distrust amongst police officers. This all narrows down to 1 instigating factor; corrupt, discriminatory/racist individual/groups. They infect, instigate unethical conducts & turn ppl against each other.
The problem is majority of police officers don't sign up to "protect and serve". Most of them are power hungry, abusive & regularly break the law. Good honest people don't aspire to be officers, opportunists do. Similar to politicians.
I was just telling my husband this. The types of people that need to control/dominate others and also commit crimes without punishment will aspire to be police officers. Officers that want to do good are usually ostracized which is why you almost never see them speaking out.
Considering so many false arrests, innocent people will be breathing huge sighs of relief. Keep up the great work NYPD!
Now if only they would stop killing us along with the no arrest that would be a positive.
Shows their collective god complex. They think their random arrests of (nonwhite) noncriminals are what is keeping society together. Scary.
Reason #2,156 : why an occupation doesn't make you a hero.. individual merit does. Any man with a shred of integrity would do their job the right way. The cowards that dont should be stripped of their law enforcement license.

They want to freedom to kill a black person with impunity. That's what this boils down to. If you're black, you really do live in a police state because this is what happens in police states...corruption and abuse runs rampant.
