He was also a mentor to @JoeBiden.
Tonight the Biden campaign objected to that classification.

Biden sought him out. He carefully guided Biden through the process of it all.

A few hours ago the campaign said it made them “nauseous” that I said Biden was mentored Eastland. I was literally just citing multiple sources that far pre-date this current debacle.
I’m beginning to see a pattern here with many Dems - including Robert Bird and hrc Bill Clinton and George Wallace, and the list goes on and on
@shaunking Based on this passage, he actually referred to Biden as “boy”. So Biden was actually incorrect on that lol.
We need to show Biden supporters stuff like this and educate them on why we need a more consistent candidate like Bernie Sanders when it comes to issues like Civil Rights.
Not a Biden supporter, but, if he was mentored by the guy, just admit it. Say your way of thinking has changed. I have become more progressive, more of aware of social (in)justice, more inclusionary. I don’t get the tiptoeing around the issue.

I have yet to look at other sources, but is this one mention the only one in the book? If so, that's an extremely loose definition of mentorship.
Maybe I have misunderstood. This print is very tiny & hard 2 read. It seems 2 me that Eastland mentored Biden on procedures, not policies. What is the beef about this? Are we saying Biden is wrong 4 having anything 2 do with a segregationist? Thank you for helping me understand.
I think many most of us consider Biden to have a very poor record on racial justice, and this plus the fact he won't apologize to Booker just emphasizes how he refuse to learn from his past. It's 2019, compromise with white supremacists shouldn't even be considered.
I think he's out of touch with the times, too.
Look all one needs to know about Biden is that the two most destructive events to happen to Black people since 1990 was the appointment of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court and 1994 Crime Bill and #JoeBiden was directly responsible for both!
So what are you going to do next? Are you going to start calling the CBC members who came to his defense Uncle Toms? I've followed you for a while and support a whole lot of things you believe in. But this vitriol towards Biden is just sad.
