My 17 year old daughter, a budding filmmaker who is a huge fan of @Ava, was deeply and forever moved by @WhenTheySeeUs. It made the injustice real to her.
So she went to the New York Public Library today to look at old records and stories on the Central Park Five case.

My son, also 17, is headed to college and plans to be a lawyer. After watching When They See Us, he's now planning to be a public defender.

I had my 16 yr. old watch it, too. She couldn't believe it was true. We had a good talk about current events, the future, our rights, and how to be safe.

All NYC papers were complicit. They used the word, wilding to describe the boys’ behavior as animalistic. A word that some of the boys that they interviewed only used to express that they were hanging out.
