Has the City of New York every apologized to the Five Exonerated men formerly known as the Central Park Five? They should. A settlement is not an apology. So many complicit parties caused their pain.
All day long, my daughter sent me article after article she found from April of 1989 from the @NYTimes & @NYPost & @NYDailyNews where each paper was absolutely brutal in their depiction and premature conviction of five boys who did not do what each paper said they did.

Did the NYT apologize ?
I was in NY at the time and I remember vividly reading an article in Newsweek about the scourge of black boys wilding, calling on the black community to address their barbarism (I paraphrase) and asking where are the black dads? This case made me hate America. Little has changed.
After watching the series was trying to remember the facts that came out back then. Had no idea they did not even know each other or that there was no physical evidence linking them to the crime. All you really heard was that they confessed to the crimes.
They were tried in the media and by Trump and found guilty. This was before the trial even started.
I saw it in real time! The way those boys were treated broke my heart.
