Nah this seems like a bit of a stretch.

Nah. Not a stretch when a fan shoved Kyle Lowery last week. When a Celtics fan called Cousins a nigger this season. Etc

https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/7007219/fan-throws-banana-philadelphia-flyers-winger-wayne-simmonds … I agree. This happened before I moved to this city, but as a white person, I am disgusted with how some of the white fans think it's okay to act like this.

Yes this is so important! Sports is really one of the opiates of the masses these days. They're problematic all around.

Using the Kevin Durant situation as an example of racism is a HARD reach. These individuals that were cheering his injury were not looking at the color of his skin, but were in fact looking at the color of his jersey.

Shaun, utilizing the KD incident as your "lead" drags down an otherwise important discussion. Yes, interactions between white fans and NBA players are problematic and driven, in part, by white privilege, as you suggest. The fan response to KDs injury is a poor example

Isn’t the same privilege apparent in any fan who continues to support professional sports despite the NBA censoring
@MahmoudAbdulRau and the NFL censoring@Kaepernick7? These players are used, abused, and denied a voice while “fans” celebrate their injuries?! - 1 more reply

The other examples are good but the Toronto fan reaction is off base and hurts your argument.

People that listen to this guy all the time are going to be as jaded about white people as Fox News viewers are jaded about POC. Unhealthy.

Have you ever been to a game in Toronto before, Shaun? Because if you have, you would realize that white fans are the minority in that arena (just like in the rest of the city...)
