One of the largest prisons in Illinois just banned hundreds of books. Most of them are on race, racism, justice, freedom, & liberation.
They even banned "Up From Slavery" by Booker T. Washington.

Not to distract from the larger point, but they banned Booker T. Washington’s “Up From Slavery?” He was a fairly conservative proponent of uplift and accommodation. There’s no way the prison authorities read the book before they banned it. If they did, they didn’t understand it.
