I see the battle for the Democratic nomination about a battle between two generations that see the world VERY differently. It's shocking how differently older voters that are 65+ see the candidates than younger voters that are 18-35. //THREAD

I am 72 yrs old and progressive. I would love to have someone just as progressive win in 2020. But surely you recognize not everyone in America feels the same. We will NEVER agree! To govern successfully requires compromise..a little inch toward the middle from left and right.
-
Progressives compromise every time we vote for a Democrat that voted for the so called Defense Budget - for This administration! Time is way overdue for Democrats to compromise with Progressives and acknowledge they are in need of a serious course correction.

I'm 67, and Bernie is the first pres. candidate I've wholeheartedly endorsed. I don't understand what's happened with my generation; don't they care about their kids?

That aloofness is no longer the 'middle'. The middle is way further left than the MSM or politicians want to acknowledge. The corporate masters make sure of that.

Yep, big money greed calls itself moderate and centrist. In fact this extreme greed is destroying the planet, and empowering scape goat politics in the face multiple catastrophies. W/o big money in Dem Party we wouldn’t be told “we” dems need to appeal to the “center”.

The people shaping the conversation - the political establishment, the corporate media, & the corporations & wealthy donors they represent - are doing just fine. They would infinitely prefer four more years of Trump to Bernie Sanders, whom they find threatening on many levels.

Excluding the candidate popular with youth is a form of climate denial.

I keep asking myself, what is the middle ground between corruption and not corrupt? What is the middle ground between justice and injustice? What is the middle ground between life and death? If there even was such a thing, is that really a place you want to be?

Ppl 65 years and older have been through worst than what is going on now in this country (especially is they’re Black). The irony of calling a class of ppl aloof by making an appeal for them to vote outside their political framework because of said conditions is being aloof.

My fear is that it seems like the current Dem leadership actually does see the writing on the wall, but they don't want to lose power, so they're going to just throw everything behind Biden and moderate candidates down the line to try and keep control of the party.
