I think the single largest mistake Democratic voters could make would be to choose a nominee that is not liked by young people. And I don't just mean teenagers, but voters 18-35. In 2008, Obama was the choice of the youth, and young people brought their energy to his campaign.

In 2016, more youth voters voted for
@BernieSanders than Hillary Clinton & Donald Trump COMBINED. Bernie was far and away the preferred choice of young voters. But Democrats, ignoring that, instead went with the moderate establishment candidate. And Trump won 30 states. 30!Show this thread -
When I study what happened this weekend around Europe, mainstream, moderate politicians lost in a MAJOR way. It's not what people want. And without fail, all over Europe, people rejected middle of the road parties and middle of the road politicians. It's historic.

Imagine this... The nation CURRENTLY has active movements for A Green New Deal A $15 minimum wage Medicare For All The end to never-ending wars Major justice reforms Comprehensive immigration reform IMAGINE choosing the nominee for President who doesn't support those things.

That ANYBODY looks at what we are experiencing in this country (and around the world) right now and determines that what we need to do is meet people in the middle is astounding to me. Only a first class level of aloofness could see 2019 and decide to go to the middle.

Bernie is not the answer. We need a fresh start like Harris, Warren or Beto

"It is shocking how differently older WHITE voters that are 65+ see the candidates..."
-
I'm a white Democrat who voted for George McGovern. Today's young people don't know how radical it was to be anti-Vietnam war. LOTS of 65+ like me support Bernie & it IS imperative to get out the youth vote but IMHO Bernie Sanders isn't the only option for that this time around.

I'm proud to be an outlier in the 65+ demographic. In all of my nearly 67 years, I have never witnessed a presidential candidate who inspired me as much as Bernie does. My party was once the progressive party. Make Dems Progressive Again -

65+ benefited from FDR’s USA. Under 65, we have suffered under neoliberalism.
-
You are so right! Those people 65 or older never lived under Bill Clinton's neoliberal ways nor under Barack Obama's neoliberal administration.

I’m 70 & a delegate to CA Dem Convention - going this week w millennials who also ran in my district. When we made our speeches b4 vote, we agreed on almost every issue! Just cause we don’t vote for Bernie doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty common ground. I would vote any vs Trumppic.twitter.com/CGtEj4i3oj

If they let
#progressives take the reins they will win. "Vote-Blue-No-Matter-Who" is Recipe for disaster. Just look at 2016. -
Hell, look at the current Louisiana "real Dem" governor who said he would support the abortion ban legislation.
