Of the 17 City Councilmembers, 15 sought reelection. Of those, 14 won. The race of the 15th -- Jannie Blackwell in the 3rd -- is still too early too call.

What a story! In 2015, Helen Gym got into City Council in the fifth Democratic slot and with only 1,270 votes from the sixth place -- which would have left her off Council. This cycle, Gym is decisively in 1st place with a 40,000 vote lead on the 2nd place.

Say congrats to the first two millennial on City Council: ISAIAH THMOAS & KATHERINE GILMORE RICHARDSON who seem to have won the 3rd and 5th places at-large, respectively. The other three Dems are the incumbents -- Gym, Domb, and Green.

UPSET IN WEST PHILLY
The last time a councilmember w/ a last name that isn't Blackwell sat on the Council seat from the 3rd district was 1974. Tonight, it seems that JAMIE GAUTHIER brought a dynasty to an end. 95.5% of the vote in and she's with a steady 3,000 vote lead.pic.twitter.com/GeDpGd52C0

Dem delegation to next City Council will be 7 years younger than the current 14 Dems, with 1 fewer white member, & 1 more black member. Of 17 seats, 2 at-large are secured for minority party. One district is controlled by R but will face a challenge in the fall.

Philadelphia never had an openly LGBTQ member of City Council. There were 4 on the ballot this year -- including a trans women. None were elected.

A big question early on in the at-large race was how relevant ballot position is going to be. There will be time to analyze everything careful, but at quick glance, 4 of the 5 winners didn't have premium ballot real-estate.
