He did vote against the bill right after this speech, the 1991 version which did not include the VAWA yet. Thanks to him, among others, the harmful effects of Biden's bill were at least delayed for 3 years.

Luckily, there are lots of highly qualified people in this primary who aren’t so intractable - so I definitely won’t be voting for Biden or Bernie!

Bernie was one of the most effective members of Congress at getting progressive legislation done especially through amendments, but no one can do it alone and the rest of Congress was so corrupt that it was extremely hard to go against the tide.

Regardless of his reason, Bernie still voted for it! And it still impacted the black communities negatively! Intentions are great but the proof is in the actions. Shaun needs to stop acting like Bernie is so much better than Biden when they both said “YEA” to the bill!

This bill is one example. Biden’s record on choice is terrible. Banking same. DOMA. Iraq. Sanders and Biden were on opposite sides of all the above.
