A lot of lies, particularly from @JoeBiden, are being told about the 1994 Crime Bill. He was the primary author of it and advocate for it.
He said this week that it didn't impact mass incarceration.
Watch this scene from 13th where they make clear that it did exactly that.pic.twitter.com/Up4YaSyUp6

Yesterday something truly painful happened. A dozen activists wrote me saying they were sick to their stomachs seeing it. The Biden campaign asked
@SymoneDSanders to say that the crime bill only impacted states. At 1:37 the anchor called their bluff.pic.twitter.com/tKupcvBf7SShow this thread -
Watch
@RepBobbyRush He is the congressmen for the South Side of Chicago. Watch him, nearly in tears, say the 1994 Crime Bill was the worst thing to happen to the Black community the past 50 years. And listen to his deep remorse for voting for it.pic.twitter.com/PedaRJjxKE

The Remorse of Congressman Bobby Rush on His Vote for the Crime BillI need you to see this video. It is probably the most honest, most transparent moment you will ever seen from a politician on the true impact of Joe Biden's 1994 Crime Bill. It's honest and painful.Show this thread

Also strange to see that in 2019 Joe Biden talks much more kindly about the
#GOP than he did in 1994. WTF?pic.twitter.com/P4o7mmCqHF

Joe Biden Bragging That States Will Now All Have Mandatory MinimumsThis week Joe Biden said that his 1994 Crime Bill DID NOT IMPACT STATES. It was primarily for the states and he literally wrote the laws making sure states had to follow the law to receive funding. -
Speaks volumes about his comfort zone. Biden makes it clear, he prefers the old pals he knows rather than the "youngsters" he doesn't. Same goes for his ideas.

Using the power of the purse to force mass incarceration policies on the state.

Everyone makes mistakes but failing to own them is cowardly and has dangerous implications for future policy decisions. Is Biden's 'electability' strategy to court Trump supporters and swing voters while riding Obama's coattails?

The POC voting population need not kowtow to duplicitous lawmakers. There's ample education in history to be had to vote with conscience. Consistency comrade

That was 1994 in the middle of the crack epidemic and he's trying to make sure the people that were found guilty had to do 85% of their time instead of 40%. What was wrong with that?

are we going to do the same thing with the opioid epidemic?

Bernie Sanders voted for the 1994 Crime Bill, too. I don't see how Bernie supporters think they can bash Biden about the crime bill without inadvertently bashing Bernie for voting for it himself.

Please stop! Bc if you do this to him you need to include everyone that co-signed his stance during that time.

Sounds like a great idea to me
