Look, state party chairs have been saying this for a decade - the lack of investment in grassroots organizing and campaign infrastructure has been a travesty. Talk to those of us fixing it, despite the continued lack of support. @washdems doing it.

“Out-organizes” at some level absolves us. We were at brunch while the world changed. We were defeated by our sheer complacency. It’s hard to feel sorry for us: we gave it away. Now, finally, we’re upset.
We had liberal democracy in the bag, the golden age would never end. So we stopped looking at what was happening in the shadows. They have been laying the groundwork for everything that's happening today for 40 years. Yes, sheer complacency.
We spent all our time arguing about purity tests while they were quietly taking over Secretaries of State and county election supervisors. Yup.
Wrong. Accepting republican-lite (the result of “no purity test”) helps the left lose. story of hillary2016 Great strategy’s possible even with an iconoclast. In fact it probably WAS the way to win in 2016 A purity test probably helped Republicans get where they are now
DEMS discounted whole states in their “strategy.” They must organize and finance candidates for every elected office in every state. They ceded sound bite rhetoric to Republicans; they need to start walking their talk and getting more positive press. Oh, and hang together or....
Unfortunately you are correct. Conservative are, first and foremost, super organized and efficient in theit use of government at every level.
Conservatives are masters @ seizing the rhetorical high ground, too. Consider the phrase "pro-life" & then find an alternate position that doesn't make you sound monstrous. It's more difficult to point out & make others see hypocrisy than to get them to believe cute slogans.
This is plain for anyone to see after what happened in 2010. The fact that the past nine years, Dems haven't tried to fight back other than the failed "be more conservative" strategy, is shameful.

We haven't been "out-organized". We've been conned by a DINO party colluding to advance the neoliberal corporate agenda while paying lip service to social issues. The Dems turned conservative, with a small liberal contingent, 30 years ago.
To be fair, we're at a structural disadvantage knowing billionaire and corporate money is going all in against us and towards their causes. They can outraise 10,000 donations with a single fundraiser.
