You'd think that young voters would be swayed by style and personality and older voters would be the ones all about policies and plans. It's the exact opposite. Young voters want to see the plans & policies and will vote based on that.
I spent yesterday speaking to older voters about Joe Biden. In one new poll Biden leads older voters 55% to 7% against Bernie. When I ask older voters what policies and plans they love from Biden, they openly admit it's not about that for them. They don't even know his plans.
I said this before. It was true for me yesterday when I spoke to Biden supporters. When I speak to Biden's supporters about what they love about him - even when I tell them he was the modern architect of mass incarceration... They mention Obama in the first 2-3 sentences.
Its almost as if the generation that had the whole world fed to them on a platinum spoon is full of vanity, spoiled and acts like children.
It's because many of these older voters have never had to pay attention to policies in their lives. Much was provided for them and they didn't have to face the consequences of their political actions. Ironically, we young people are now facing their political consequences.
We don't have the luxury of voting based on feelings. They do.
Until things change, young people are looking at an unhappy future with widespread damage (and upheaval) from climate change, vast inequality, permanent minority rule, etc. etc. So, yeah, they have to care about policy.

It’s not an either/or situation, though. I’m an “older voter” and I’m just as committed to seeing candidates’ plans for the future as young people.

That kind of reminds me of how my parents vs. me go shopping for groceries. They've been using all the same brands for decades and will defend them even if the ingredients are pure crap, I'll happily buy store brand or whichever has the least bs in it
For the TV Generation, voting for president has always been a casting call where you pick the leading man (always a man) based on how he looks, how he sounds and how he makes you feel. Thank god their power is waning.
If we want to generalize - it seems to me: young voters want dreamy ideas with no substance or longevity behind them. Older voters want status quo. Neither are good.

Bro, these older voters CONDITIONED to think a certain way and oh so susceptible to PROPAGANDA TROPES, as well as, SHAMELESS POLITICIANS. BIDEN and TRUMP are prime examples of this “THINK”.
Glad that the young voters are taking this seriously.
