I see some people saying that what Rashida Tlaib said in her interview about Palestinians providing land for Jews escaping the Holocaust was not historically accurate. And I wonder if that means we are now about to actually be historically accurate about that moment?

We must be able to speak accurately about the rights of Palestinians without being slandered as anti-Semitic. I fight anti-Semitism AND stand up for the human rights and dignity of Palestinians. I track Neo-Nazis as a hobby AND fight against the human rights abuses of Israel.

Damn straight. Israel was and is a European colonial project visited upon a native, overwhelmingly Arab population. It is now an apartheid state and if its defenders want to get in to truth telling, Palestinians and supporters of human rights and international law welcome it.

The west sought to make amends for an atrocity it committed to one group of people by displacing another group and planted the seeds for another atrocity.

It's entirely possible to see both sides of the Jewish homeland/Palestinean displacement thing. It just requires the desire to consider everything rather than one's own ideology.

Yes but the British implemented division, in fact Zionists resisted the British alongside Palestinians at first. Then US foreign policy polarised the region & has allowed the rise of fanatics like Netanyahu. Don’t hate Jews, hate the US right wing consensus
-
That's incorrect. Zionists were the driving force behind the colonial project, the US was isolationist and complete non factor in the establishment of the Israeli state on Palestinian land.
-
The US did vote in favor of the partition of Palestine. We weren't completely a non factor.
-
Truman on why US voted: "I do not think I ever had as much pressure and propaganda aimed at the White House as I had in this instance. The persistence of a few of the extreme Zionist leaders—actuated by political motives and engaging in political threats—disturbed and annoyed me."
-
I am willing to concede on the term "non-factor", but to claim the partition of Palestine wasn't a European project carried out at the behest of the Zionist movement is just way off.

And
@RepRashida went on to constructively say she welcomed a One State Solution: One way to make Way for a Peaceful Process vs. trumped up rancor & rath path we’re on, daily taking Palestinian & Israeli lives; amping worst human instincts.pic.twitter.com/gvJMqvaiX0

For more history on this from another angle (Rwanda), I recommend Mahmood Mamdani’s book WHEN VICTIMS BECOME KILLERS.

Everyone should make a point of watching a doc called, "Palestine is Not the Issue." It's old but extremely informative. Barring that, Google a damned map and see gradual reduction in designated land for Palestinians. It's atrocious.

The sheer dishonesty of people trying to find fault with anything she said is just so ludicrous and obvious, somehow I believe that *this* time, they overplayed their hand and everyone will see through it. Then again, "Palestinians don't real" is still a play which some believe.
