Only compared to their already low rates in 2016. If voters under 25 voted at same rates as voters over 55, Trump would have lost in a landslide. If the vote at the same rates as people over 55 in 2020, they can crush Trump and elect Sanders or Warren and save the planet to boot.

What's true is there is a system that wants to block them. Young people turned out. Young people voted and in Florida (per .
@AndrewGillum), 15% of Parkland mail ballots 18-21 years old were rejected compared to 5.4% statewide & just 1.2% statewide for all ages. - 1 more reply

For Beto, and for Abrams in a general election, who are moderate Democrats. I'm not sure young people will cast votes in the primary at 2018 levels though.

Not sure if you take issue with the hyperbole? Or you really think young people turn out in higher numbers that 50+ voters?

And historically haven’t bothered to in the past. It’s why the courts will be lost for the next 30+ years. The youth can’t be bothered to show up consistently. So no GND, no M4A, Roe likely to be overturned, all thanks to conservative courts. But they showed up ONCE!

More youth voters would have turned out in 2016 if Dems had picked a candidate they could tolerate. They seem intent on using Biden as a natural form of youth voter suppression this time. Not sure if they can stand him more than Clinton or not? So why take the chance?

Fine, then. Let's see who turns out, and who the party as a whole prefers. Young people are not The Party. Minorities are not The Party. They are constituencies within The Party. The rest is just twatwaffle for clicks.

And while there were records broken, they still only turned out as a fraction of the older groups Bernie has work to do
