One of the most thoroughly researched articles ever written about @BernieSanders culled from 1000s of articles & interviews from the 1970s until today.
And what does it show?
Who he is today is who he was his whole life - fighting for everyday people.https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/07/politics/kfile-bernie-sanders-vermont-1970s/index.html …

It was true in 71 and it's true today. The difference is that they no longer care about white people either now.

Ask him why he is against reperations...why do all the people asking us to support avoid this critical question? For the record...always been a Bernie fan but this gives me pause.
-
Well, now I understand he supports the bill calling for studying the issue. I can imagine several reasons he would skeptical - a) he supports universal programs - they are easier to defend, more difficult to remove, and are consistent with broad support. (1)
-
(b) the US isn't politically mature enough 4 reparations. first step is a truth & reconciliation process so that more people understand the need. WIthout that it's easy to see reparations becoming a organizing point for the right, like Affirmative Action. Much must change. (2)
-
I'm not sure how they were politically mature for Japanese and Jewish reparations but not for this. The study part... I can see where that is key. The universal programs are cool...but what will they do to help with the massive wealth gap created by policy?
-
Universal programs help close the wealth gap and/or make it less relevant. Reparations are good. But if most Americans don't support it it will not stick. I understand that Germans really do accept that Nazism was horrible. Not sure that most Americans accept that about racism. 1
-
Universal Programs may be more consistent w/ building up multi-racial 99% solidarity that is needed to change US political culture. Targeted programs are always used by the right to divide the 99%. That may be what Bernie is thinking. I don't really know, though.
-
Solidarity is needed here badly. Idk how Bernie is looking at it either. That's what is giving me questions...just let us know the thought process and it might make sense

Because as a Mayor, House Rep, & Senator, Bernie had no say in running the state of Vermont. If he had succeeded in his quest for VT Governor in the 80s, he could have taken action about the prison system in VT. As POTUS
#Bernie2020 will work to fix the federal prison system. - End of conversation

Results matter. It is not easy to quantify but after decades in the game achievements and legislation and policy go a long way to prove a point. Bernie does not do it for me in that department. If he is on the ticket I will vote, but until then I will do everything I can to help.
-
he won the house back for democrats, more than anyone else in the game.
