And here's the thing - if you have a problem with me - ask ANY expert on mass incarceration - ANY of them - ask ANY informed organizer on the issue of mass incarceration - about Joe Biden's role in building mass incarceration and ask if he has had a real reckoning on this.

@PrisonCulture about Joe Biden's role in imagining, creating, fighting for, and defending mass incarceration. Ask if he's even scratched the surface of undoing what he built and the damage he's done. Ask@jformanjr Ask@DrIbram Ask@thenewjimcrow Ask ANY expert.Show this thread

These are the primaries with elections still way ahead of us. This is the time to fight for a progressive future, not the time to settle into mainstream fare. This is exactly the time for constructive criticism.

I think a lot of people need to understand the climate then and now. Most of America wanted something done about crime, so they passed a bill. The unfortunate consequence of that was the mass incarceration. I don’t believe this was intentional.
-
No excuse is justifiable... especially after all these years since he’s made no move to correct these atrocities

-
Especially when he said he wants it to be tougher and harsher that it isn't tough enough.

I would love to know what Biden has said or done recently for people to believe he has truly made a 180 change on his views regarding criminal justice. People defending him on Twitter haven’t exactly been forthcoming with links to evidence of this change of heart.
-
I feel like we’re just expected to take it on faith that he is a different man than he was most of his life.
-
People think cause he was Obama’s VP than he’s changed

Let’s confront
#JoeBidenbin a townhall before the election about this issue. This needs to be done with all candidates. I just don’t want#Trump to win again.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

At this point, there's no difference between Biden and Republican candidates. His policies all mirror GOP positions. People only like him because he was Obama's VP
-
Biden was always a GOP operative in the Dems. He votes with them more than Dems.

Agreed, but if he’s the dem nominee running against 45, what are you going to do? This is a legitimate question and one that I think many of us are struggling with.
-
Right now is the time to make an informed choice and this is the information we need to share. If he is the nominee, that's different. But hes not. Hes a candidate in the race. No more annointed candidates.

Outside of his role in this and the Anita Hill thing, I struggle to remember anything at all that he's ever done other than be the VP and run a couple failed presidential campaigns. He's just another old white dude with a familiar face. Let's move on.
